Qualified English-speaking psychologist in Toulouse

Welcome

My name is Tatyana. I am an Australian-trained psychologist residing in Toulouse, France. I am a registered psychologist in France. You can read more about my qualifications, experience and approach below.

Therapy is first and foremost a collaboration and a relationship. It is important to find a therapist that you have a positive connection with. While the initial goal of therapy may be to reduce suffering, it is also about engaging more deeply and meaningfully with ourselves and our lives.

In a therapy relationship, the client is given time and space to explore their thoughts, feelings and actions at their own pace, in a non-judgemental, compassionate and safe environment.

Qualifications and experience

I trained as a psychologist in Sydney, Australia. I have a Bachelor degree with Honours in Psychology and a Masters degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of NSW, Sydney.

My approach

Above all I value diversity, compassion and autonomy. I view therapy as a collaboration between client and therapist, and a chance for greater understanding and acceptance of ourselves. I have great respect for people of all ethnicities, genders, neurotypes, sexualities, social, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

I take an integrative approach to therapy, that is, I use the therapeutic styles, techniques and strategies that in my experience may work best for that person at that particular moment. Underlying my practice is attachment theory, which is a theory of how the emotional and relational bonds we developed in early life can influence our relationships and our life today. My practice is also trauma-informed, which means it is driven by the principles of safety, choice, trust, collaboration and empowerment.

In terms of specific approaches, I have trained and practised in schema therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), somatic psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, mentalisation-based treatment (MBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based therapy and so on.

I am always learning and developing my professional skills. It is not only a requirement of my professional standards, but also a commitment to lifelong learning. I am currently undertaking training in treatment for people on the autism spectrum and eye movement and desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR).
